Shreveport native Sam Burns finished in second place at the 126th U.S. Open, held at Shinnecock Hills in Long Island, N.Y. Burns shot a final round 67 (-3) to secure his position.
Final Round Performance
Burns started the final round in a tie for sixth place and seven shots back of the leader, Wyndham Clark. However, his impressive performance in the final round, which included a score of 67 (-3), allowed him to climb the rankings and finish in second place.
Clark, the eventual winner, shot a final round 73 (+3), securing his victory with a total score of -4. This is Burns’ third straight top-ten finish and his best result at the U.S. Open, following his T9 finish in 2024 and T7 finish in 2025.
