Griffin, 36, posted a video on social media late Friday night, claiming that the right engine of the plane caught fire after takeoff from Houston.

The footage depicts a United plane back at the terminal. Griffin stated that the passengers heard 15 straight loud bangs and immediately knew something was wrong. Thankfully, the pilots were able to get everyone back safe and sound with zero injuries.

Griffin’s Experience

Griffin expressed his gratitude, saying ‘God is good.’ He also shared his dislike for flying, stating that he has been championing the ‘return of the road trip’ for years. Griffin believes that flying is not an enjoyable experience, citing the hassle of airports, security, and the risk of engine failure.

Griffin’s NFL career was marked by his impressive performance as a rookie, leading the Washington Redskins to an NFC East title and earning a Pro Bowl nod. However, his career was also plagued by injuries, including a torn ACL and LCL in a playoff game.

United confirmed the engine issue in a statement, saying that the flight landed safely and customers deplaned normally. The airline is arranging for another aircraft to take customers to their destination.
