Travel Restrictions
The team’s travel restrictions are reportedly due to previously mandated rules stemming from the war, which align with FIFA guidelines for general team travel. Iran’s request to travel to Los Angeles two days before their match against Belgium was denied, and the team will lodge a complaint with FIFA.
Other teams, such as the U.S. and Bosnia-Herzegovina, have also had to deal with significant travel distances and schedules. The U.S. team, for example, made a roughly 980-mile flight from their base in Orange County, California, to Seattle on Thursday.
