Rescue Efforts
Body camera video shows first responders at the scene, with the rear of the SUV down a canal embankment and the driver’s side facing the water. The woman was eventually escorted from the SUV and onto a medical stretcher.
An individual with Fire Rescue spoke to the woman in Spanish and relayed to deputies that she was from Boca Raton and had been driving alone. The woman was not familiar with the area and had not been out that late. Deputies believed the woman had accidentally backed into the canal.
The woman was transported to a local hospital, but due to federal law restricting the release of medical information, Palm Beach County Fire Rescue could not provide an update on her condition without a signed release.
