King County has announced a Stage 1 Burn Ban for unincorporated areas, effective June 22, due to predicted above-average temperatures and dry conditions. The ban prohibits yard debris fires and land-clearing fires, but allows recreational fires and gas/propane appliances.
Fire Safety Reminders
Fire Marshal Eric Urban reminds residents that the use and sale of consumer fireworks are prohibited in unincorporated King County. Residents are encouraged to report any illegal fireworks use or sales to the Code Enforcement team.
For approved recreational or campfires, residents must follow specific guidelines, including using seasoned and dry firewood, building fires in metal or concrete fire pits, and keeping fires at least 10 feet away from vegetation.
Residents can report fireworks violations online or by calling 206-848-08. To report a violation, residents must provide a specific property address and be willing to testify in person or by written declaration.
