Oklahoma’s runoff primary elections are scheduled for Aug. 25. The Oklahoma State Election Board addressed a frequently asked question about changing party affiliation for the runoff. The board said that in even-numbered years, such as 2026, voters cannot change their party affiliation between April 1 and Aug. 31.
Runoff Elections
Key races heading to a runoff include the Republican nomination for governor between Attorney General Gentner Drummond and Mike Mazzei, as well as the superintendent of public instruction race, and a Democratic matchup to determine who will face U.S. Rep. Kevin Hern for U.S. senator. Additionally, there are several runoff elections for state representatives and senators.
Voters are encouraged to check their party affiliation and prepare for the upcoming elections. The polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Aug. 25, and early voting will be available from Aug. 20 through Aug. 22.
