A Jacksonville man reported missing in St. Lucie County has been found safe in the Florida Keys. The St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office announced on Thursday, June 18 that 18-year-old Jasper Frohock was located safe by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office in the Florida Keys.

Details of the Search

According to reports from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, on Wednesday, June 17, at 5:46 p.m., a man contacted 911 dispatch and stated he was driving home and believed he had contacted a missing 18-year-old man from Central Florida traveling south on County Road 905 toward Key Largo.

The man said he saw Frohock around 5:17 p.m. The man told 911 dispatchers that Frohock said he was ‘just trying to make it to Key West.’ On Thursday, June 18, 911 dispatchers in Monroe County received a call from the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office at 10:25 a.m. about Frohock.

The 911 dispatchers’ report notes that the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office said Frohock’s cellphone pinged at John Pennekamp State Park in Key Largo and that Frohock was making charges to his card. The official with the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office told dispatch that Frohock ‘just wanted to be left alone from his family.’

Frohock’s family said he was on a bicycle trip from Jacksonville to the Florida Keys. During his travel to the Keys, Frohock camped overnight in a tent, often staying in local parks.
