Habitat for Humanity of Greenville County is a nonprofit organization that brings families, community partners, and volunteers together to build homes, communities, and hope. Established in 1985, the organization has built more than 435 homes in Greenville County and served over 1,200 families through its programs.
Mission and Impact
The organization’s mission is to provide an affordable path to buying a first home, with guidance and support at every stage. To be considered for the program, prospective homeowners must demonstrate a need for housing, the ability to pay an affordable mortgage, and a willingness to partner with Habitat throughout the process.
In addition to building new homes, Habitat for Humanity of Greenville County also provides home preservation services, including weatherization and critical repairs, to help people affordably and safely stay in their existing homes. In 2025, over 1,725 volunteers contributed nearly 15,000 volunteer hours to the organization.
Volunteer and Giving Opportunities
Volunteers are at the heart of everything Habitat for Humanity of Greenville County does. The organization offers build-site opportunities for individuals, schools, young professionals, and corporate groups throughout the year. No construction experience is needed, as skilled supervision is provided. Volunteer days for new construction projects are available Wednesday through Saturday.
Donations are also crucial to the organization’s mission. As housing costs continue to rise, many hardworking families are being priced out of their communities. Donations help create opportunities for neighbors to build brighter, more secure futures and remain rooted in the place they call home.
