Fort Bend ISD Approves Budget

Fort Bend Independent School District (Fort Bend ISD) board of trustees voted unanimously to approve the fiscal year 2026-27 budget, which includes a $32.8 million shortfall. The budget features a compensation plan designed to attract, retain, and reward educators and support staff.

Key Budget Details

The budget includes a compensation plan with targeted investments, such as differentiated teacher steps, state-funded teacher retention allotment, and staff retention allotment. Additionally, the budget includes a second-year thank you supplement for employees who do not qualify for the teacher retention allotment or staff retention allotment programs. Bus driver and monitor pay increases are also included in the budget.

The district’s Pre-K3 program will be expanded, and a two-way dual language program and Mandarin immersion program will be added. New middle school choice programs and virtual learning opportunities for high school students are also part of the budget.

In regards to the child nutrition fund, no meal price changes are planned, but there will be price revisions for a la carte snack items.
