The Empress House, a boutique mahjong studio and social club, has opened its doors in downtown McKinney. The studio provides a space for beginners to learn and play mahjong, with introductory classes like Mahjong 101, which teaches the necessary skills to start playing.

For both beginners and experienced players, the studio offers open play sessions with bookings available for single seats and groups of four. The open play experience includes hostesses who can answer questions and assist with guided play, as well as snacks and beverages. Founder and owner Emily Bradford said, ‘We created a space at The Empress House to create a community that can come into a beautiful place, play the game of mahjong, meet new friends, and grow this community.’

The Empress House also offers founding memberships with unlimited access to open play, early booking access, and member-only events. Private parties and a boutique with mahjong-themed items and hostess gifts are also available.
