Investigation Underway
First responders rushed to the rental house on Ruby Lane, a neighborhood tucked off Poinciana Boulevard near Oren Brown Road. Both children were airlifted to Arnold Palmer Hospital, but medical staff was unable to save them. They were both later pronounced dead.
Investigators piecing together the timeline said the four adults staying at the rental property had left the house that morning to go pick up some food. They left a 15-year-old behind to watch the younger children. It was during this brief window that the twins ended up in the pool.
Homicide detectives are currently investigating the drowning to figure out exactly what happened. The local medical examiner’s office will make the final determination on the official cause of death.
