Portugal’s national soccer team, including international superstar Cristiano Ronaldo, has arrived in Palm Beach County and is training at North County District Park in Palm Beach Gardens.
Preparations for the World Cup
The team arrived at Palm Beach International Airport on Friday night and practiced for the first time on Saturday. The city of Palm Beach County and the Palm Beach Sports Commission worked with FIFA and Portugal to prepare the park for the team’s training sessions.
The 82-acre park, which opened in June 2019, has been transformed to meet the team’s needs, with pristine fields and a media center. Security is tight at the entrance to the park.
Portugal is hoping that the training sessions in Palm Beach Gardens will provide the team with the preparation they need to make a successful run in the World Cup. The team’s first game is on Wednesday against the Democratic Republic of Congo in Houston.
