Scotland Fan Completes Cross-Country Walk for Mental Health

A Scottish soccer fan, Craig Ferguson, has finished a cross-country walk from Los Angeles to Boston to raise money and awareness for men’s mental health ahead of the World Cup. Ferguson, 22, walked over 100 days in a kilt and raised over £1 million for Scottish Action for Mental Health, the country’s largest mental health charity.

The Tartan Trek

Ferguson’s journey, which he called ‘The Tartan Trek,’ honored a friend’s father who died by suicide. He aimed to reach Boston in time for Scotland’s first World Cup match in 28 years, being played in Foxborough against Haiti. The Scottish government recently announced a major contribution to the campaign, bringing Ferguson close to his fundraising goal.

Ferguson previously walked from Scotland to Germany ahead of the 2024 European soccer championship and set his sights on a 3,200-mile journey for the World Cup. He believes that centering his campaign around a major sporting event is the perfect way to raise awareness for men’s mental health.
