Norwalk’s 5-year-old Bryce, who has faced significant medical challenges, will receive an adaptive bike from Variety, the Children’s Charity of Iowa, at the Principal Charity Classic. This gift will give Bryce the joy of riding a bike and the opportunity to be included in a cherished childhood experience.
Bryce’s Journey
Bryce loves to swing at the park, his happy place where he plays like any other child. However, his journey has been far from typical. Bryce was born full-term at 4 pounds, 5 ounces and was rushed to the neonatal intensive care unit, where doctors identified complications including trouble breathing, low muscle tone, and eye damage.
At age 3, Bryce was diagnosed with nonverbal autism, adding to his medical complexities. Despite these challenges, Bryce continues to defy the odds, using a walker and achieving milestones that bring joy to his family. His new adaptive tricycle will be presented to him during the first day of tournament play at the Wakonda Club.
