The Philadelphia Phillies acquired veteran outfielder Derek Hill from the Chicago White Sox on Thursday for two minor leaguers, outfielder Dylan Campbell and infielder Jose Colmenares.
The Phillies, who also gained $250,000 in international bonus pool money, made room on the 40-man roster by designating right-hander Jackson Rutledge for assignment.

Hill, 30, batted .213 (17-for-80) with four home runs and eight RBIs in 50 games this season. He is a career .227 hitter with 18 homers and 62 RBIs in 268 games for the Detroit Tigers (2020-22), Washington Nationals (2023), Texas Rangers (2024), San Francisco Giants (2024), Miami Marlins (2024-25) and White Sox (2025-26).
Campbell, 23, batted .216 with seven homers and 31 RBIs in 55 games for Philadelphia’s Double-A Reading ballclub. The Los Angeles Dodgers selected Campbell in the fourth round of the 2023 draft and traded him to Philadelphia in January 2025.
Colmenares, 24, batted .278 with three homers and 19 RBIs in 36 games for High-Class A Jersey Shore this season. The Venezuela native has been on the injured list since May 25 with an ulnar collateral ligament injury in his right thumb.
