G-Unit, led by Curtis ’50 Cent’ Jackson, is making significant investments in Shreveport, Louisiana. State leaders announced that G-Unit has invested roughly $11 million into properties and production infrastructure, including Millennium Studios and Stageworks.
State Investment and Reimbursement
The state has committed to a $50 million investment in the project, but it operates as a reimbursement model. This means that 50 Cent spends his own money on approved projects before the state reimburses those expenses. The board has already approved nearly $2 million in reimbursements for design and engineering.
Renovation of Stageworks is expected to be complete by the end of the year, while work on Millennium Studios is now expected to wrap up by 2027 after flooding delays were resolved. State Sen. Sam Jenkins expressed his hope that the project will create a regional headquarters for the film industry in northwest Louisiana, bringing in people from around the country and adding to tourism dollars.
G-Unit also announced a documentary honoring the victims of the April 19 mass shooting, which Sen. Jenkins called a ‘very noble idea’.
