A kayaker who was reported in distress at Ames Pond in Stoughton, Massachusetts, on Thursday was found and rushed to the hospital. The person, about 19 years old, was taken in critical condition to Brockton’s Boston Medical Center – South, according to Stoughton police and fire officials.
Drivers had been asked to avoid the area amid the search, which closed Highland Street between West and Canton streets. State police were assisting with the investigation, the Norfolk County District Attorney’s Office said in a statement.
The Kingston Fire & Emergency Management and first responders from other neighboring towns helped by sending dive team equipment or covering local first responders’ station. More details about what happened weren’t immediately available.
