NASA has announced the four members of the crew for the Artemis III mission, which is expected to launch from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center no earlier than 2027.
What is Artemis III?
The Artemis III mission is focused on testing critical rendezvous and docking capabilities between Orion and commercial human landing systems, which are needed to deliver astronauts to the lunar surface.
Previously, this mission was striving to land astronauts on the Moon, but as of February 27, it’s become more technology-based, focused on docking. Lunar landing will likely be pushed to the Artemis IV mission.
The main goal of the Artemis III mission is to figure out if NASA can connect a spacecraft in order to prepare for the future landing of humans on the Moon. All in all, the mission is aimed at expanding lunar exploration.
