New Apartment Units, Including Affordable Housing, Planned for MidTown Cleveland

In a recent development for Cleveland’s Ward 5, 33 new apartment units are set to be constructed in the MidTown area, with a portion of these units designated as affordable housing. This announcement was made during a community meeting held at the Friendly Inn Settlement, a well-known neighborhood nonprofit.

Community Engagement and Upcoming Plans

The meeting, attended by approximately 40 residents, was organized by Council Member Richard Starr. It took place in a large multipurpose room, with staff on hand to guide attendees. The meeting coincided with other community events, such as a neighborhood baby shower providing essential resources for families.

During the meeting, a printed agenda was distributed by Lamont Johnson, Starr’s assistant, outlining upcoming community events and meetings. Although the agenda was not complete, it served as a guide for future civic engagement opportunities.

Community and Civic Involvement

The gathering emphasized the importance of community involvement in local governance. Residents were encouraged to participate actively in shaping their neighborhood’s future. The meeting concluded with Starr expressing his desire for attendees to enjoy the Cleveland Cavaliers playoff game, highlighting the blend of civic duty and community spirit.

These notes were documented by Julia Brookover, with audio recorded by Antoinette Williams. For any corrections, residents are encouraged to contact the organizers.
