Conway Enforces Phase 2 Water Restrictions Amid Drought

Residents and businesses in Conway, Arkansas, are now under Phase 2 water restrictions due to persistent drought conditions affecting Brewer Lake’s water levels. The city has implemented these measures to manage the limited water supply effectively.

Water Restrictions in Place

Conway Corp officials have outlined specific guidelines for water usage. Residential customers must adhere to an alternate day watering schedule based on their street address. Even-numbered addresses can water on Monday, Thursday, and Saturday, while odd-numbered addresses are allowed on Sunday, Tuesday, and Friday. No watering is permitted on Wednesdays.

Commercial, industrial, and institutional customers are also required to reduce their water usage significantly. Special considerations are given to entities with unique water needs, such as golf courses and sports fields, but they must follow Conway Corp’s directives.

Impact on the Community

The restrictions extend beyond Conway city limits, affecting the Conway County Regional Water system as well. Local businesses have expressed concerns about the timing of the drought, which coincides with the start of summer, a critical period for water usage.

Conway Corp CEO Bret Carroll emphasized the importance of community cooperation to avoid penalties, which could include fines and discontinuation of water services as per City Ordinance 0-99-74. The hope is that upcoming weather patterns will bring sufficient rain to replenish Brewer Lake.

For more information on the specific guidelines and updates on water restrictions, residents are encouraged to visit the Conway Corp website.
