Ukrainian Drones Target Russian Port and Oil Depot, No Major Damage Reported

In a recent escalation of tensions, Ukrainian drones targeted key infrastructure in southern Russia. The port city of Taganrog and an oil depot in Armavir were the sites of these attacks, according to regional authorities.

Details of the Incident

Rostov region Governor Yury Slyusar reported that a tanker at the port of Taganrog, a city with a population of approximately 240,000, was struck by Ukrainian drones. The resulting fires were quickly extinguished, and fortunately, no oil spills occurred. However, two individuals sustained injuries during the incident.

In Armavir, located in the neighboring Krasnodar region and home to about 185,000 residents, an oil depot in the industrial zone was also targeted. The fire there was brought under control without any reported injuries.

Regional Response

The mayor of Taganrog, Svetlana Kambulova, announced that the local state of emergency, initially declared on May 27, would remain in effect. Governor Slyusar noted that nearly 50 drones were intercepted in the region, which borders Ukraine’s Donbas area, a focal point of the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

Despite the attacks, damage outside of Taganrog was reported to be minor, and local authorities continue to monitor the situation closely.
