On Monday, September 21, at approximately 10:09 p.m., deputies from the Clark County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call from a 17‑year‑old who said her boyfriend had assaulted her, held her against her will and forced her to flee to Oregon before dialing 911.
Investigation uncovers serious crimes
During the ensuing investigation, detectives learned that the suspect allegedly strangled the victim, attacked her with a knife, restrained her and sexually assaulted her. The suspect was identified as 41‑year‑old David Young, a registered sex offender.
Arrest and containment
Deputies located Young’s residence near the 1700 block of Northeast Minnehaha Street. Using an unmanned aircraft systems unit, they obtained an overhead view of the apartment complex, which showed Young moving through the complex and entering a residence.
