Nestlé Brasil disclosed a major expansion of its Nutrition and Health division, committing 2 billion reais (approximately $393 million) to the Brazilian market through 2028. The investment includes a 600‑million‑real allocation for a new infant formula manufacturing plant in the city of Ituiutaba, Minas Gerais.
Local job creation and supply boost
The Ituiutaba facility is slated to break ground in 2027, with production expected to start in 2028. Nestlé says the plant will initially produce its Nestogeno, Nestonutri, Ninho 1+ and Ninho 3+ infant formulas, helping to increase domestic supply and reduce reliance on imports. The company also highlighted potential future export opportunities from the new site.
Broader regional investment
Beyond the new factory, Nestlé plans to expand output at its existing Aracatuba industrial complex in São Paulo state. Overall, the nutrition and health allocation represents roughly 30 % of the 7 billion reais Nestlé has earmarked for Brazil between 2025 and 2028.
Company perspective
“The Nutrition and Health business is among Nestlé’s four strategic growth priorities globally and in Brazil. It encompasses some of the company’s highest‑value categories,” said Marcelo Melchior, CEO of Nestlé Brasil.
The investment aligns with Brazil’s broader goals of strengthening domestic food production, supporting local employment, and enhancing food‑security for families across the country.
