Assistant Principal Orenthal Wright noted the importance of providing students with a creative outlet, which the art program now fulfills.
Atkins expressed his motivation for joining Madison, stating, “I feel like I can make a greater impact on students at a higher level, such as high school. I wanted to capture students’ attention in terms of art and other things they needed while they headed out of school.” His curriculum not only covers traditional art but also incorporates contemporary digital skills, reflecting the evolving nature of art in today’s world.

English teacher Tamika Jones, a long-time faculty member at Madison, has witnessed the school’s art program’s ups and downs. She believes that Atkins’ presence will significantly benefit students by expanding their creative horizons. “I think that it will open students’ minds and let them know that the sky is the limit when it comes to their creativity,” Jones remarked.
