The city of Naperville came together on May 25 to honor the sacrifices of military veterans with its annual Memorial Day Parade. The parade commenced at the Judd Kendall VFW Post, located at 908 W. Jackson Ave, and made its way through downtown Naperville.
The procession paused near the Dandelion Fountain at Webster Street and Jackson Avenue, where participants took a moment to reflect and lay a wreath at the Veterans Memorial along the Riverwalk. This solemn moment served as a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made by those who served in the armed forces.
Community Observance in Central Park
Following the parade, a special Memorial Day observance was held at noon in Central Park, located at 104 E. Benton Ave. This event was hosted by Naperville American Legion Post 43 and Judd Kendall VFW Post 3873, bringing together community members to pay tribute to the nation’s heroes.
The ceremony, lasting approximately 45 minutes, included a series of wreath-laying activities, patriotic speeches, and musical performances. The Naperville Municipal Band, along with the Great Lakes RTC Band, Choir, and Silent Drill Team, provided stirring musical tributes that resonated with the audience.
These events not only honored the memory of those who have served but also reinforced the community’s commitment to remembering the importance of faith, family, and individual liberty as foundational values.
