The University of Texas at Arlington’s proposed budget for fiscal 2027 is $914 million, a 4.3% increase from the previous year. The growth is primarily due to an increase in federal grants and student aid designated for specific purposes.
Revenue and Expenses
The university expects $498.7 million in tuition and fees, a 0.1% increase. However, after discounts and allowances, net tuition and fee revenue would fall to $309.1 million, down $14.8 million. State funding remains nearly flat at $179.3 million.
The university plans $936.1 million in expenses and transfers, $22.1 million more than the projected revenue. However, the difference is not considered a cash shortfall due to non-cash measures such as depreciation.
Challenges and Response
UTA faces enrollment-related challenges and changes in student mix, which have affected tuition revenue. The university is focusing on enrollment growth, student retention, and diversification of revenue streams through expanded research activity, philanthropic support, strategic partnerships, and other external funding opportunities.
International student enrollment fell 20% from fall 2024 to fall 2025, the largest annual decline in a decade. Net tuition revenue from international students fell about $26 million in fiscal 2025.
