E Bike Rider Dies In West Palm Beach Crash

A 39-year-old man died two days after his unregistered electric motorcycle, also known as an e-bike, collided with a 2014 GMC Terrain SUV on Okeechobee Boulevard in West Palm Beach.

Crash Details

The accident occurred when the e-bike, ridden by Stephen Hughes of West Palm Beach, crossed the intersection under a red light and into the path of the SUV, which was traveling east on Okeechobee Boulevard with a green light.

Hughes sustained critical injuries and was taken to St. Mary’s Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 11:40 a.m. on Wednesday. The driver of the SUV, a 61-year-old West Palm Beach woman, was wearing a seat belt and was not injured.

No safety equipment was listed for Hughes at the time of the crash.
