A former Latvian reality television contestant was arrested by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents in San Francisco on July 28. Roberts Nemiro, 38, who appeared on the Latvian adaptation of ‘Dancing With the Stars,’ is currently in removal proceedings to face deportation.
Background
Nemiro initially entered the U.S. on a temporary visa in October 2011, which expired in August 2012. During his time in the country, he accumulated a criminal record, including convictions for aggravated assault with a firearm and disorderly conduct. His law enforcement history also includes prior arrests for battery, sexual battery, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
According to the Department of Homeland Security, Nemiro will remain in ICE custody pending the completion of his immigration hearings and subsequent deportation proceedings. ICE was able to arrest this illegal immigrant and get him off our streets, and he will soon be deported from our country, said DHS Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis.
