The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay will offer the first reduced credit bachelor’s degree in the Universities of Wisconsin system. Beginning with the fall 2026 semester, students pursuing a bachelor’s degree in computer science could finish their degree in less than four years.
Streamlined Path to Workforce Readiness
The program is available to all students, but could especially benefit transfer students or those currently working who wish to obtain a bachelor’s degree more quickly. According to Kate Burns, UW-Green Bay provost and vice chancellor for Academic Affairs, “This option for students provides a streamlined path to workforce readiness, offering entry into the workforce within a shorter amount of time.”
Students can take the full 120-credit computer science program, or the 100-credit reduced credit route. Either way, students have access to multiple paths and the flexibility to design a program that best fits their future goals. The 100-credit route is only available for computer science fundamentals. Students planning to study computer science with an emphasis in cybersecurity or artificial intelligence must complete a full 120 credits.
