The Tri-Lakes Little League 12u softball team is a close-knit group of young athletes who have been working together to achieve their goals. According to Giuliana Vaughn, a key to their success is their ability to get along and play together as a team. “Just being able to get along and like knowing each other and knowing how to play together has just helped us a lot,” she says.
Team Preparation
The team has been preparing for the West Regional tournament by ramping up their practices to match the level of competition they will face. Head Coach Toni Vaughn notes that the state tournament was a bit more challenging, but the team is ready for the next level. For some players, like Alexa Flores, this will be their first time competing at this level, but they are staying focused and calm with the help of their faith. “I’m not alone in this and knowing that, like, I have Christ with me and, like, just me having faith,” Flores says.
The team’s experience and dedication have paid off, with four straight state titles under their belt. As they head to California, they are looking forward to the opportunity to compete against other top teams and potentially advance to the Little League World Series. The games will be broadcast on ESPN, giving the team a chance to showcase their skills to a wider audience.
