Former Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard announced on Tuesday that he has submitted over 41,000 signatures to be on the ballot for the November election as an independent candidate for Indiana Secretary of State. He needed 36,943 petition signatures to secure his place on the ballot.
Ballard’s Campaign
Ballard will face Democrat Beau Bayh and Republican Max Engling in November’s election. Bayh is the son of former Indiana Gov. Evan Bayh and the grandson of former U.S. Sen. Birch Bayh. Engling is an adviser to U.S. Sen. Jim Banks and defeated incumbent Secretary of State Diego Morales at the State Republican Convention in June.
Voter registration for the 2026 general elections is open until Oct. 5. Early voting begins Oct. 6 and Election Day is on Nov. 3. Ballard’s campaign said its fundraising is near $1 million, with $916,527.89 raised over the course of the campaign.
