A lawsuit filed by Randy Ross, seeking a special election to fill the seat being vacated by Mayra Uribe, who resigned effective Dec. 7 to run for county mayor, has been transferred to circuit court in Tallahassee.
Under state law, Uribe would have needed to resign by Aug. 1 to trigger a special election to fill her unexpired term. Instead, state law now dictates that the governor will fill the seat.
