A two-vehicle crash early Saturday in western Bowie County, Texas, resulted in the deaths of four people. The Texas Department of Public Safety Highway Patrol responded to the crash on U.S. Highway 259, approximately 4 miles south of DeKalb, at approximately 3:20 a.m. Saturday.
Dru Wilson, 23, of DeKalb, was northbound in a Nissan Altima when the vehicle crossed into the southbound lane and collided head-on with a Dodge Charger, according to a preliminary investigation. Wilson died at the scene. Joel Ellestad, 22, Payton Butler, 24, and Ty Byrd, 20, were in the Charger and also died at the scene.
The investigation is ongoing, and no further information was available late Saturday.
