Dangerous heat continues this weekend with afternoon cooling storms in Central Florida. Chief meteorologist Tony Mainolfi has the updated forecast.
Heat and Storms Expected
The heat index is expected to reach 102 to 110 degrees, with temperatures ranging from 94 to 98 degrees. There will be a chance of isolated showers and storms on Saturday afternoon, with a higher chance of storms on Sunday.
A thick layer of Saharan dust is expected to move into the area on Saturday night, which may affect air quality. The dust is expected to stay in the area until the middle of next week.
The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for the area, warning of the dangers of heat-related illnesses. Residents are advised to stay hydrated, stay indoors during the hottest part of the day, and check on vulnerable neighbors.
