An arrest has been made in connection to a fatal canoe accident in East Haddam, Connecticut. The Department of Energy and Environmental Protection EnCon Police made the arrest after a canoe capsized on Lake Hayward in March, resulting in the death of 20-year-old Dominick Tocci of Woodstock.
According to the investigation, Tocci and the other person in the canoe, a 20-year-old from Mineola, New York, had been drinking before going out on the lake. One person was rescued by a good Samaritan, but Tocci went under the water. His body was recovered two days later.
The second person in the canoe turned himself in on Friday and was charged with operating a boat under the influence. He was released on a promise to appear and is scheduled to be in court on July 23.
