There are places you visit once out of curiosity, and then there are places that somehow become a standing tradition before you even realize it happened. Topgolf Meridian is firmly in that second category for me, and I’m convinced it will be for you too.
Situated off Eagle Road in the heart of Meridian’s bustling retail and entertainment corridor, Topgolf opened its doors here and immediately gave the Treasure Valley something it didn’t know it was missing: a place where a lifelong golfer, a total beginner, and a group of friends who couldn’t care less about par can all show up together and have an absolutely fantastic time.
The setup is hard not to love. Picture a three-story driving range with climate-controlled hitting bays — each one outfitted with comfortable seating, its own server, and a full food and drink menu. You grab a bay, order a round of drinks and maybe some of those loaded nachos or a wood-fired flatbread, and then start hitting. Microchipped golf balls track every shot you take and score it automatically on a screen right in front of you, turning the whole experience into a genuinely engaging game. There are several game modes to choose from — everything from a straightforward points-based target game to fun variations that work well for mixed-skill groups. Nobody feels left out, and nobody feels unchallenged.
What surprises people most on their first visit is how welcoming the atmosphere is. This is not a stuffy country club situation. The vibe leans closer to a lively sports bar that happens to have a driving range attached to it. Music plays, people cheer each other on, and the staff are consistently attentive without being intrusive. If you’ve always felt a little intimidated by traditional golf — the dress codes, the quiet, the judgment — Topgolf dismantles all of that completely.
The food deserves its own paragraph. The kitchen turns out surprisingly solid American fare: think crispy chicken sandwiches, shareables built for groups, and a cocktail menu that holds up to scrutiny. It’s bar food elevated just enough to feel like a proper meal, and portion sizes are generous. Come hungry.
Topgolf Meridian is open year-round, which matters in Idaho. The heated bays mean that even on a cold January evening, you can be warm, well-fed, and sending golf balls arcing into the night sky over a lit-up range. It’s a genuinely fun date night, a memorable work outing, and an effortlessly crowd-pleasing option for out-of-town guests who want to experience something beyond a standard dinner.
Reservations are strongly recommended, especially on weekends — bays fill up faster than you’d expect. Book online ahead of time, give yourself a couple of hours minimum, and plan to stay longer than you intended. That part is essentially guaranteed.
