A woman suspected of being involved in a bombing attack in Monaco has been found dead in Ukraine, according to Ukrainian officials. The suspect, 39-year-old Anastasiia Berezovska, was born in Ukraine and had recently lived in Germany.
Investigation
Ukrainian authorities have detained two men in connection with Berezovska’s murder. One of the men, a current employee of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry’s Main Intelligence Directorate, has confessed to the crime. He claimed that the second suspect, a former law enforcement officer, was an accomplice.
According to police, Berezovska arrived in Ukraine on July 1 and had been in contact with the two men. Investigators found that both men had made bank transfers and cryptocurrency payments to Berezovska, which led police to treat them as potential suspects in the attempted murder in Monaco.
A search of the former law enforcement officer’s residence turned up a basement room that resembled a torture chamber, according to the police statement.
