MUBI Fest is coming back to Chicago from July 10-12 with screenings at the Music Box Theatre, Salt Shed, and Gene Siskel Film Center. The festival’s theme this year is ‘Better Together,’ featuring movie pairings that complement or play with the films’ themes.
Screenings and Events
The Music Box Theatre will screen ‘Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma’ on Friday, followed by a screening of ‘Sleepaway Camp’ with a panel discussion. On Saturday, the theater will show a sneak peek of ‘Rosebush Pruning.’ On Sunday, it will screen ‘The Mastermind’ with a live score and a 25th-anniversary screening of ‘Ocean’s Eleven’ on its new third screen.
The Salt Shed will host a screening of ‘The Substance’ on Saturday, along with a 10th-anniversary screening of ‘Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping.’ The venue will also feature MUBI Market, with local vendors, games, and pop-up shops.
The Gene Siskel Film Center will screen ‘Monster’ on Saturday and ‘My Father’s Shadow’ on the same day. On Sunday, it will host a screening of ‘The Royal Tenenbaums’ and a 40th-anniversary showing of ‘The Fly,’ followed by a screening of ‘Lurker’ with a Q&A session.
