A tractor-trailer caught fire on Interstate 84 East in Southington late Friday night. Firefighters responded to the highway near exit 28 for a tractor-trailer fire around 11:45 p.m.
Crews in the area said they found a tractor fully involved in fire with the fire spreading to the trailer. Mutual aid was called in from other departments to help battle the flames.
The crews used multiple hose lines to extinguish the fire and then overhauled the trailer. Fire officials said the trailer was carrying food products and the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection and Connecticut Consumer Protection responded.
According to firefighters, the driver of the truck was out before firefighters arrived and was not injured.
