Deputies in St. Lucie County arrested several drivers suspected of driving under the influence during a monthlong effort aimed at keeping local roads safe.
Efforts to Prevent Impaired Driving
The St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office said deputies spent June actively looking for impaired drivers and taking enforcement action against those suspected of driving under the influence. Officials said impaired driving remains one of the leading causes of preventable traffic deaths across the country.
The sheriff’s office is urging drivers to make safe choices before getting behind the wheel. Anyone who plans to drink alcohol or use substances that could impair their ability to drive is encouraged to arrange for a sober driver, use a ride-share service or find another safe way home.
The sheriff’s office said preventing impaired driving is a shared responsibility and that safe decisions can help protect both residents and visitors traveling on local roadways.
