Natrona County commissioners unanimously approved a $14.4 million budget adjustment during a special meeting. The adjustment includes over $9 million for the health department’s building project.
Hospital Board Redefined
The county-appointed hospital board members appeared before the commissioners to ask for a clear purpose after the sale of the Wyoming Medical Center to Banner Health. The board members voiced frustration over a lack of communication with Banner Health and the Collective Health Trust.
Commissioner Dave North suggested the board shift away from focusing solely on Banner Health’s contract and instead serve as an advisory body for county-wide health care needs. The hospital board agreed to meet independently to draft a new vision for their role.
Budget and Employee Compensation
The commissioners reviewed proposals for a wage study implementation to resolve wage compression and remain competitive with the private sector. The Natrona County Sheriff’s Office presented a revised budget that trimmed $48,516 by eliminating three positions.
The commission also approved a resolution that redraws several election precinct boundaries to align with recent municipal annexations and de-annexations involving the cities of Casper and Mills.
