The Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Texarkana, Texas, celebrated America’s 250th birthday with a patriotic concert, featuring the Texarkana Regional Chorale and the Sacred Heart Choir.
A Time for Celebration
The event, which was free and open to the public, included hamburgers, desserts, and patriotic music, and was conducted by Marc-Andre Bougie and Mary Scott Smith on the piano.
According to Father Justin Braun, the church started this tradition last year as an opportunity to use the gift of voice and bring together choirs from other churches. This year, 35 voices came together to sing classic patriotic songs, including those that honor the armed forces.
