A man accused of shooting a senior at a bus stop in Orange County has pleaded not guilty to attempted first-degree murder. Kevin Millares, 27, was extradited to Central Florida after being arrested in New York and booked at the Orange County jail.
Deputies responded to Egan Drive on June 8 and found the 70-year-old woman suffering from gunshot wounds at a bus stop. Investigators said she was out on her daily walk when she was shot three times in the back.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Office identified Millares as the suspect and said he had fled to New York, where he was arrested on June 23 and held at Rikers Island. Neighbors welcomed the news of Millares’ arrest, with one saying she was ecstatic and thankful for those involved in catching him.
