A dramatic video shows a Bexar County Sheriff’s deputy rescuing a 4-month-old infant from a hot vehicle on the West Side last month. The deputy used a baton to shatter the glass of the parked car and rescue the infant.
The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office said temperatures inside parked vehicles can be life-threatening. Leaving children and pets inside unattended vehicles can carry serious consequences, including arrests, jail time, and fines.
In a separate incident, a dog died after being left inside a vehicle with the windows closed. The owner, Damaris Herrera Aguilar, was arrested on a charge of animal cruelty.
The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office urges anyone who sees a child or animal left alone inside a vehicle to call 9-1-1 immediately.
