Two people have been arrested in connection with the nearly 70 dogs that were dumped along the roads in St. Johns and Flagler County, according to the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office. Austin Moore, Anthony Dunham, and Carolyn Loveman were involved in acts of animal cruelty stemming from an overcrowded dog hoarding situation at Loveman’s Palm Coast home.
Animal Cruelty Charges
In May, deputies discovered 51 more dogs at Loveman’s house and arrested her on over 30 counts of animal cruelty. Dunham and Moore are accused of picking up 23 of the dogs from Loveman’s residence, loading them into a vehicle, and abandoning them alongside County Road 204 in St. Johns County.
Palm Coast Animal Control Officer Heather Priestap described the conditions inside Loveman’s home as overwhelming. In total, 74 dogs were rescued across Flagler and St. John’s counties. Three of the dogs died after being abandoned, while the rest are being treated at local animal rescues and will eventually be put up for adoption.
