A recent encounter in Philadelphia’s Independence National Historic Park led to a sprawling investigation involving drugs, guns, and mysterious chemicals. A park ranger approached a black BMW parked in a restricted area, finding 44-year-old Eugene Horsch and a woman engaged in what appeared to be illegal drug activity.
Investigation and Search
The woman in the car presented an ID with a name that belonged to a missing person in Philadelphia. This prompted authorities to execute a search warrant at Horsch’s home in the Olney neighborhood. The search uncovered more weapons, drugs, and various chemicals in bottles, drums, and other containers.
The FBI was called in to help identify the chemicals, which were found in the basement area along with a 55-gallon drum connected to water lines. Authorities are still unsure what the chemicals are or what they were being used for.
Missing Woman and Potential Links
The investigation has raised concerns about a potential link to a missing woman, whose name was found on the fake ID. However, no ‘apparent bodies’ were found at the scene. A note mentioning notorious serial killer Ted Bundy was also discovered at the home.
Horsch’s defense attorney, Jerry Brown, plans to enter pleas of not guilty for the charges his client is currently facing. Brown also addressed reports that police might search underground or around the property for evidence of other crimes, stating that he doesn’t think they will find anything.
