A 2-year-old boy, Klieber Moran, was rescued from the rubble in La Guaira, Venezuela, six days after devastating twin earthquakes hit the country. The child was pulled alive by Jordanian emergency workers and taken to a hospital for treatment.
Rescue Efforts Continue
Rescue efforts have continued since the magnitude 7.2 and 7.5 earthquakes struck Venezuela’s northern coast last Wednesday. The death toll from the earthquakes has risen to 1,943, with over 10,500 people injured, according to Venezuelan officials.
The US State Department has shared a video of American search-and-rescue teams pulling a 9-month-old infant alive from beneath the rubble in Venezuela. The infant and her mother suffered only minor injuries.
An Urban Search and Rescue team from the US, consisting of 312 personnel and 18 canine teams, has been deployed to Venezuela to help search collapsed buildings.
