Sheridan County Commissioners have approved the appointment of a special prosecutor to assist the Sheridan County Attorney’s Office in a specific case. According to County Attorney Dianna Bennett, the need for a special prosecutor arose due to a conflict of interest, as a deputy county attorney’s son is involved in the case.
Commission Vice-chair Nick Siddle explained that in such instances, county attorneys often reciprocate and assist each other across counties. In this case, Park County Attorney Brian Skorick has agreed to handle the case at no charge to Sheridan County.
