A driver who crashed into the river in Bethel last week is recovering after being rescued by police officers and a nearby homeowner.
Members of the Stony Hill Volunteer Fire Company responded to a vehicle that had left the road and overturned into a river on Friday.
Before EMS arrived, fire officials said the patient was extricated by responding police officers and a nearby homeowner.
Firefighters and EMS further removed the patient from the water before transporting them to Danbury Hospital. Their condition is unknown at this time.
The vehicle was later recovered from the river by a heavy-duty crane.
