Casper, Wyoming, is sending two of its own to the United States Specialty Sports Association’s All-American Games in Florida. Lily Fresquez and Rylee Attwood, teammates on the 12U Oil City Stars softball team, have been selected to participate in the national tournament from July 27 to August 1.
Local Talent on Display
Both girls have been playing softball for about seven years and have developed into strong players on the field. Rylee primarily plays catcher and first base, while Lily plays shortstop and second base. They have helped the Oil City Stars achieve a 21-18 record, with several dominant performances throughout the season.
The two girls were selected for the USSSA All-American Games after trying out in Colorado, where coaches tested their athleticism and fielding acumen. They will be divided into teams and compete in an elimination tournament, with everyone guaranteed to play at least five games.
Lily and Rylee are excited to meet new players and make new friends from across the country. They are also looking forward to testing themselves against tougher competition than they have faced before.
To help the local athletes get to the tournament in Melbourne, Florida, the two families have set up fundraisers to help cover the cost of the trip and event.
